Now, your PC Server mission-critical application can be more "bulletproof" to 
failure with the installation of the new IBM PC Server 780W Redundant Power 
Option. This self-contained, 780W redundant power option allows PC Server 500, 
520, and 720 systems and the PC Server Enterprise Expansion Enclosure to 
continue functioning even if a power supply component fails. In addition, its 
780-watt capacity eliminates the need for an auxiliary power supply to drive 
additional hot-swap drive banks in these systems.
The PC Server 780W Redundant Power Option installed in a PC Server 720 uses 
NetFinity(1) to alert the system administrator if a temperature threshold is 
reached or the redundancy feature has been activated. PC Server 500 or 520 
models and the PC Server Enterprise Expansion Enclosure provide a visual alert 
through the use of the power-good LED if a power supply module has failed, 
causing the supply to lose redundancy.
The PC Server 780W Redundant Power Option coupled with an American Power 
Conversion Smart-UPS and NetFinity provides a complete power subsystem and 
systems management solution geared for high-availability PC Server 
applications.

Software Requirements: NetFinity is required to take full advantage of 
temperature threshold settings and redundancy alerts when used with the PC 
Server 720.
Limitations: On PC Server 500 and 520 systems and the PC Server Enterprise 
Expansion Enclosure, PC Server 780W Redundant Power Option provides a visual 
alert by blinking the power-good LED if redundancy is activated. Neither the
setting of temperature thresholds and alerts nor receiving redundancy alerts 
through NetFinity are supported with these products.
